Canadians not only do Thanksgiving, they (we) do it in October. Which makes way more sense. It's when the harvest is happening, so it ties neatly to the myth. And speaking of - who in Massachusetts would host a picnic on the fourth Thursday in November?

I used to tease Canadians about ripping off Thanksgiving. Then I learned you had it before us. So my bad. We should pay you royalties or something.

Given that the "Christmas season" in the states now begins early on Thanksgiving morning, I fear that moving Thanksgiving to October would mean two straight months of Christmas music. Maybe the presence of Halloween would delay things a bit, but even then we'd be in for eight weeks.

Even with our "late" Thanksgiving this year it felt like the holly jolly dam was ready to burst.

Here in Geneva Xmas season starts right after Halloween. Halloween is relatively new here, so I have no idea when it started before that. And that’s despite the fact that L’Escalade Geneva’s major civic holiday is in mid-December

Wirh our official turkey roaster in Switzerland we are reduced to sliced turkey and ham and fixings catered by the company that did our Golden Anniversary dinner. One benefit of being overseas is that you didn't have to run the Turkey Trot with your FIL (beau père?) Happy Thanksgiving! I tried to include a photo of the famous COVID dinner but substack won't let me.
