A couple thoughts no one asked for:

a) I agree with your Mom, you're an excellent Dad. But you should never, ever point that out if you want other parents of tyrants to keep reading.

b) Maybe Litsy is of the "eat the marshmallow now" persuasion. Isla certainly is. Which is why, after trying to explain the very simple concept of deferred gratification to her befuddled face, I now throw gummy bears at her for every acquiesce to parental authority. I find it cuts the push, prod, nag, threaten, beg part down to about half.

c) Have you tried mulled beer? Highly recommend.

😂 Yes, there is always a Canada stand! What’s that about? We did get some amazing maple syrup whiskey one year.

Really... I'm going to have to keep an eye out for that. I'm actually sort of curious as to whether these are promoted by the government of Canada or Quebec or if there are just a lot of patriotic, enterprising Canadians hanging around Switzerland and France.

In the real Canada, that stand wouldn't sell beaver pelts, but it would sell "beaver tails" - what Americans (much less imaginatively) refer to as "fried dough." I suppose you could put chocolate on it, though it's pretty good with just a dusting of icing sugar...
