Having just been in Zurich for a day and finding that to be plenty, I think this might apply to every Swiss city, unless you're trying to hit up several museums?
The Arve is confusing because there's also the Aare in Bern. The confluence of the Arve (I typed Aare) and the Rhone are kind of cool if you can figure out how to be on the bridge above the confluence to see the colors coming together. This is... not something to do with guests.
I don't want to suggest I don't like it here. (I think I hurt the feelings of a friend of mine here.). I'm quite happy. Except for the insane prices, it's a very nice place to live. I'm just saying for a tourist, a day is a good amount. There are of course, good museums and good restaurants and whatnot, but like everything else here, they ain't cheap. That's a big part of the draw of all of the outdoors stuff (not that I can fully enjoy it with a five and two year old in tow). Except for $8 a gallon gas, it's free. I've got to get to Zurich, I haven't been yet, but man the price off accommodation spooks me.
This is super funny. I lived in Paquis and the day I left, to move to "safer" (ie affordable) France, walking by on a stroller, I watched as a banker dumped out a few lines of coke on the side walk in front of the gym on rue de lausanne and then snort it all up. It was around 11 am. My daughter looked on, not understanding what was happening. Then, another funny moment was inside Ikea when the Ikea police announced the license plates of each Lamborghini, Jaguar, Corvette, Porsche, Supra and Mazerati parked outside illegally. The first day I arrived, from a developing country, I met friends fr the UN at a pretty mediocre pizza place. When we got the bill, I politely asked how to convert from CHF to dollars or Euros and all at the table gasped and said YOU NEVER CONVERT TO YOUR HOME CURRENCY HERE, EVER. :)
I also got accosted by an elderly tourist on the Mont Blanc bridge demanding how long it would take her to walk to the ACTUAL Mont Blanc mountain. I sort of looked at her heels and said.. it's doable.. but it may take a few hours ;)

I've been to Junction a couple times.

I was really, really confused when I get first here and saw Quai de Mont Blanc, but no Mont Blanc because of the weather.
